You will experience the UNESCO world heritage the ‘Wadden’ sea and visit beautiful Dutch islands. All in all this is a nice and varied boat trip.
Discover the beauty of North Holland and Friesland from the water
Day 1: Arrival in ‘Harlingen’. This beautiful coastal city has several ports which harbour seagoing freighters, fishing trawlers, yachts and the magnificent sailing ships for chartering. The historic city centre of ‘Harlingen’ has many iconic buildings and boutiques. During this day you will check in, meet the staff and other passengers and have your first on-board dinner.
Day 2: We start with a 4-hour boat trip to ‘Terschelliing’ followed by cycling or hiking through the island’s wonderful sceneries and villages. Visit the sea museum in ‘West’ or the wreck museum in ‘Formerum’. The evening walk in ‘West’ is fun and informative.
Day 3: From Terschelling we take a 3-hour boat trip to ‘Vlieland’, the smallest and quietest island on this route. This island is virtually car-free and has one main street with shops, bars and restaurants. ‘Vlieland’ has beautiful dune landscapes and offers the best view of the ‘Wadden’. The evening walk ‘Stortemelk’ comes highly recommended.
Day 4: We leave ‘Vlieland’ and set course for ‘Texel’ during a relaxing 4-hour boat trip. ‘Texel’ is home to the educational centre ‘Ecomare’, picturesque villages like ‘Den Burg’ and ‘de Koog’ and many, many sheep. Discover ‘Texel’ by bike or by foot and stay overnight in the port of ‘Oudeschild’. In the evening we invite you to participate in a navigation workshop.
Day 5: We start with a 3-hour boat trip to ‘Den Oever’. We go through a lock and see the fishing ships of ‘Den Oever’. In North Holland you can cycle or walk to ‘Medemblik’, a typical North Holland city with beautiful buildings and water-based tourism. ‘Josefien’ is moored the cosy port which is the starting point for an evening walk through ‘Medemblik’.
Day 6: After breakfast you can cycle to ‘Enkhuizen’ via ‘Hoorn’. Both cities have wonderfully preserved city centres. A visit to the ‘Zuiderzeemuseum’ is especially recommended. In the evening there will be a nautical skills workshop.
Day 7: ‘Josefien’ will take you across the ‘Ijsselmeer’ to ‘Stavoren’. Here you can cycle or hike through the wonderful Frisian landscape to ‘Makkum’. ‘Makkum’ is a typical West-Frisian village and a favourite spot for sailing yachts and kite surfers. You can visit the crockery museum or enjoy a nice evening walk through ‘Makkum’.
Day 8: ‘Josefien’ will make a 2.5-hour trip back to ‘Harlingen’ across the ‘Ijsselmeer’, through the lock and across the ‘Wadden’ sea. You can stay on board or cycle to ‘Harlingen’ yourself. After disembarking there will be ample opportunity to visit ‘Harlingen’.
